Former Royal Yachtsmen
During HMY BRITANNIA'S 44 years in service, there were an estimated 3, 295 crew who proudly served aboard the Royal Yacht.
Below are lists of the former Officers and Royal Yachtsmen. They were meticuously compiled over a five year period by M J Hill [Lt Cdr Royal Navy, LSA(S) HM Yacht Britannia 1960-63]. We are very grateful to him for his dedication to this project which was first published in October 2013. Please note that this list generally reflects when someone joined Britannia, be it for the first, second, or third time, and what their role was at that time, it does not always take into account any subsequent promotions gained whilst aboard.
If you know of a former crew member who is not listed here or any unintentional errors, please contact us: firstname.lastname@example.org

In 1952, SS Gothic was chartered to be refitted and used as the Royal Yacht for King George VI’s proposed tour of Australia and New Zealand, however due to the king’s deteriorating health the tour was subsequently cancelled. As considerable work had already been done, the refit was completed in time for Gothic to be used for Queen Elizabeth II’s 1954 World Tour.
This is a list of the names of Royal Yachtsmen who served on SS Gothic during the World Tour and then went on to serve aboard The Royal Yacht Britannia.
