Britannia's turning over a new leaf!
Britannia’s turning over a new leaf!
Despite some terrible weather conditions over the winter months Britannia’s maintenance team have progressed well with the re-painting the Yachts’ hull. The hull is a distinctive dark blue and the new paintwork has created a mirror like shine. Alongside the new paintwork, a 24 carat gold leaf is being re-applied by members of the team to the previously painted gold band around the top of the hull. It is believed this is the first time the gold leaf has been applied since the 1980s and is intricate and highly skilled work as each sheet of gold leaf is only four inches square. The leaf is applied by hand using porcelain tools and specialist glue which comes from tree sap! The line now has a striking glint to it and looks stunning against the blue of the hull.
