Royal Coat of Arms on Britannia’s bow to be restored
As part of our maintenance activity this summer we are restoring the Royal Coat of Arms which is situated on Britannia’s bow.
We have removed the Coat of Arms from the bow so we can carry out this detailed work in one of our onboard workshops.
Our very own highly skilled paint expert Paul Adams is completing the painting and gilding for us. Gilding is the process of putting gold leaf on to a surface. On the photo you can see the gold leaf being applied.
We believe it was last painted in 1995 and will take 3 to 4 weeks to complete at which time it will be replaced in pride of place on Britannia’s bow.
