“I visited on 18 August for my birthday. It was brilliant! I am coming back on 10 September for my mother's birthday so she can have the same unforgettable experience. Thank you!”

Julia Chapman, Aug 24, 2010, Darlington

“What a wonderful surprise on a visit to Edinburgh to be able to go on the Royal Yacht and see for myself how and where the royal family lived at sea.”

Pete Sumner, Aug 21, 2010, Cape Town

“My wife visited Britannia last year (2009) in September. The weather was beautiful and tour of the ship was amazing. To spend a few hours absorbing the culture and elegance of the Royal Family was a wonderful experience. Everyone went out of their way to ensure that the experience was memorable. Thanks to all concerned especially the "crew member" on duty to take pictures of the visitors with their own cameras. Such a rare and superb gesture.”

Syd & Rose Harling, Aug 12, 2010, Pietermaitzburg South Africa

“I am really glad Bloodhound is going to be used again. I remember her racing at Cowes. Makes one proud to have a seafaring Royal family. I wish we had a new Royal Yacht. God Bless the Queen.”

Jonathan Steel, Jul 29, 2010, Lymington

“On my first visit to Edinburgh in late June 2010, I chose to visit the Royal Yacht first before the other tourist attractions. A rather unique attraction and I was very please with the standard of everything I saw. The audio was extremely helpul as I was a bit pushed for time. What a grand way to tour the world if you happened to be a Royal. A top attraction for Edinburgh.”

Ruth White, Jul 22, 2010, Trentham. Australia

“We try to visit Edinburgh at least once a year, and have done for over 15 years. This is the first time we've visited Britannia. It's best £10 I've ever spent! Will definitely visit again - absolutely brilliant experience! Thank you.”

Caroline & Pete Squire, Jul 17, 2010, York

“I visited Britannia on Thursday 1 July 2010, and had a lovely time looking around (despite the weather!), it makes a nice change to be able to take photographs and I took full advantage. A word of advice, allow plenty of time for your visit, the website suggests 1.5 hours but I could easily have taken 2 hours just on the tour of the ship alone, not including the gift shop and tea room (as I was on a coach holiday we were on a strict 90 minute timetable). A memorable experience and for me, the highlight of my holiday to Scotland.”

Helen Gale, Jul 5, 2010, Torquay

“I would just like to say what a memorable and emotional visit my husband and I had on board the Royal Yacht it is a truly top class and well thought out experience from the people who work there in there fab uniforms to the audio walk through how marvellous to get an insight into the happy times the royals spent on board three cheers to all involved would love to come back.”

Pamela Crannage, Jun 19, 2010, Malton N.Yorks

“My family and I visited Royal Yacht Britannia on Sunday 13 June 2010, and the website said the tour took 1 and half hours, but we took 4 hours! It was brilliant, and whoever thought of the individual handsets deserves a medal - they are fantastic! We went to The Royal Deck tea room twice - and were served by Emma the first time and Christian the second time, and they were both ace! Thanks to everyone, especially Emma and Christian! Fantastic value for money too, and so interesting! This was the first time we had actually visited for a tour, and I did a families day on board when I was nursing in Royal Navy, but it was great to see all areas! We will be back again when we come to Scotland next.”

Jan Clark, Jun 17, 2010, Chesire, England

“Visiting Britannia was a brilliant experience.I was blown away by the magestic ship and the fine detailing of every room in it. A ship can never seem so alive after being decommissioned in 1997. Hats off the the staff members involved.A very interesting tour indeed! And excellent maintenance of the ship. Overall,a wonderfull experience.”

Madhubani, Jun 16, 2010, Pune, India

“I visited Britannia in June 2010 with my wife and 3, 14yr old "teenage" daughters. It was an amazing day out from start to finish which even the "teenagers" thoroughly enjoyed. As well as being a stunning ship I must comment on how reasonably priced every thing was from the entry fee to the tea room and the gift shop. This was by far one of the best attractions we visited in Scotland and is a credit to all the staff involved.”

Richard Wright, Jun 10, 2010, Loddon, Norfolk

“I visited Britannia with my husband and daughter in May 2010. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, and were surprised we could take photos! It was a great opportunity to have a glimpse of life on board, and to take a step back in time, imagining all the Royal family and friends who must have walked the decks. Well worth a visit! Thanks to all the team for a wonderful experience.”

Jean Metz, May 18, 2010, Dunfermline, Fife (now living in Switzerland

“What an amazing experience to step aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia. We spent many hours looking in awe at all what was on show to the public. My Wife and I had afternoon tea in the restaurant which we understood to be an addition. Everyone was so kind and helpful. What did we enjoy the most. Three words, THE WHOLE VISIT. God Bless the Queen.”

Jenny & Roy, May 14, 2010, Victoria.BC.Canada.

“Being able to walk round Britannia was wonderful. If you are visiting Edinburgh the Britannia should be at the top of your list. Very well thought out tour had a nice flow around the yacht. Audio guide was excellent and very informative. The engine room - very impressive, to all crew who attended to the engine room, you should be very proud to have kept her in that condition. The tea room is a must and not that much more expensive than a cafe and the food is top quality. Staff both in the museum and onboard are all very friendly and helpful. I would certainly go back again. The other special thing is that you are allowed to take photos.”

Heidi Sadler, Apr 20, 2010, Preston, Lancashire

“I was born in Portsmouth and play over at Whale Island most Saturdays. We used to walk out on the mooring pontoon of the Britannia and gaze up at the size of the ship above us, it was masive as you could imagine to a ten year old. It was always spotlessly clean. great times!”

Gary Wimbush, Apr 16, 2010, Albany Western Australia

“My mother kindly took me to visit Britannia - I was very impressed when they provided me with a script (I'm deaf) and whenever my mother said what she heard on the audio radio, I went Yeah I know, read it here. It was nice. The tour around the ship was wonderful and easy to follow. I loved it. Would certainly visit again. :) Thank you for such a great and accessible tour!”

Carri Neilson, Apr 12, 2010, Edinburgh

“I served onboard Britannia from 1978 until 1982,and really enjoy reading these comments.I hope to take my wife onboard this summer to show her what i talk about all the time!!Keep up the good work.”

peter levey, Mar 15, 2010, walton on the naze

“I had been to Portsmouth to visit my brother who was in the navy when I was about 8years old and had seen Britannia - but could only go on boat tour round the outside. My family and I spent nearly the whole morning walking round Britannia @ Leith and loved every minute of it.”

Lorraine McCutcheon, Jan 26, 2010, Edinburgh

“It was very easy to see why Her Majesty the Queen enjoyed being on the ship. Yes must confess it would be very nice to see a new Royal Yacht. Lynne and I visited the ship and we both enjoyed it.”

Jonathan Gibson, Dec 6, 2009, Sutton Coldfield

“Visited at the end of November 2009 , a very interesting and informative tour. The audio was excellent , the staff very helpful , will visit again .A must for anyone visiting Edinburgh.”

“Just wanted to say what a great few hours we had on board Britannia last Thursday. It is one of the best attractions I have visited in years. All the staff there are particularly friendly & helpful. The audio tour was great and it was really nice that we were allowed to take photos all over the yacht !”

Martyn Gore, Oct 13, 2009, Caerphilly

“What a magnificent ship. It was a wonderful and informative tour. Everyone was kind and helpful and the self-guided tour was excellent. Scotland can be so proud of the job you are doing to carefully preserve such a magnificent piece of your history. Donny and Carol Willison, Erie Pennsylvania, USA”

Donald Willison, Oct 8, 2009, Erie, Pennsylvania, USA

“I visited the Royal Yacht on 7th August 2009. It was great to see this grand old lady of the sea. It is a pity she had to be decommissioned as this was the only way that the Queen and her family could get away from the pressures of their duties.”

Lenore Lodge, Sep 27, 2009, Brisbane, Australia

“My husband and I(!)visited Royal Yacht Britannia during our holiday this September, what an experience. Like many other visitors, we trod the passage of time and history. It is difficult to believe our wonderful Queen has been deprived of her total peace and relaxation which Britannia gave her. The Queen has given to the nation and done so much in faith for her people, we should honour her with another boat. Our Queen can be so proud of the way Britannia is being kept, spotless as if she was still in commission. We took many photographs and I have a lovely one of us in the main dining room where so many famous people would have stood for their photo's too, how amazing and memorble can that be? God bless everyone who sailed in her.”

Vanetta Hosking, Sep 22, 2009, Kingsbridge, Devon

“I visited the Royal Yatch on Sunday 13th September 2009 and was more than impressed with what I saw and learnt about the Yatch and the routine of the crew. The narrative was really helpful and explained things in clear and precise detail. All in all I was (and still am) very impressed and have spread the word to all my neighbours that it is truly worthwhile seeing. I will definately take the tour again when I make my next visit to Edinburgh. It is sad that such a fine ship had to be laid up, Britannia was an Icon of this Country and flew the flag proudly.”

Patrick Roy TYLOR, Sep 15, 2009, Bicester

“We visited Britannia on 24th August 2009, which was a lovely sunny day. Whilst on board and enjoying the very informative tour, my partner proposed. All arranged with the help of the staff and Louise Marshall Millington, who played the bagpipes whilst he proposed. It was a fantastic morning and I want to say thank you to everyone at the Royal Yacht for their help in keeping the surprise! I continued the rest of the tour on a high! Thank you.”

Sharon Slee, Aug 27, 2009, Coventry

“My daughter, grandson, granddaughter and myself visited Britannia July 2009. It was an amazing experience for us all. My granddaughter 5 years old and grandson 10 years old really enjoyed the tour narrative and listened intently to everything. We thought she would become bored but quite the reverse as she wanted to go round again. Next time we are in Edinburgh, Britannia will be top of her list.”

Bobbie Hobbs, Aug 17, 2009, Grantham

“I served on board Britannia as a member of the royal navy in 1979 to 1981. so it was lovely to be able to show my wife around to see all I had talked about over the years. It was a super day keep up the good work.”

It is well worth visiting and I can recommend the visit to anybody as I know the will enjoy the tour as much as I did. It was amazing. It's a shame Britannia was decommissioned.”

“My father was a Sergeant with the Royal Marines and served on board Britannia back in the 1950s, when I was just an infant. I visited her last year and it was fantastic to see where he would have slept, worked etc. The ship is breathtakingly beautiful both inside and out. It is like stepping back in time to a more civilised era. How wonderful it must have been to have travelled on her. I inherited a few black and white photos of Her Majesty and the band from my late father - priceless !!”

Ian Evans, Jun 30, 2009, CAMBERLEY

“It's something I've always wanted to do. Since i saw the Britannia sail into portsmouth with the band playing on board and a gun salute from Portmouth navy base.”

“My husband and I were on a short vacation from the USA and took the train for a weekend from London to Edinburgh. The highlight of our journey, without a doubt, was the Royal Yacht Britannia. It was so exciting and awesome - my imagination ran wild as I came within a foot or two of the Queen's desk, her bed and actual furniture and knick-knacks... I have to rate this the most unforgetable Royal experience - and I will be returning again when next in Gt. Britain... For visitors to the UK the Royal Yacht Britannia is a must - you will never forget the experience. Vi”

Worth every mile and every penny; this is a well-run, informative tourist attraction and an insight into royal life on an intimate scale. “I visited the Britannia in August 2008 on a somewhat rainy morning, it was a treat touring the yacht, viewing all the gifts from various world leaders, I found the Roll Royce display quite a surprise. Even though she is now retired, it looks ready for duty on a moments notice. A must see if you are in Edinburgh.”

“We visited Britannia in October 2005 having recently sold our own well loved yacht. It made me very emotional thinking about the Queen saying "goodbye" to her special place of peace and tranquility. My brother and his family are due to visit from Australia this Christmas and a trip to Britannia is on their list of must do while in the UK. Thanks for all your hard work.”

Julie Line, Nov 24, 2008, Frome, Somerset

Michael Roche, Oct 31, 2008, Enfield, Middlesex

“I visited Britannia with two friends in June 2004 and had a wonderful experience. We were able to view Britannia in a leisurely manner and enjoyed everything we saw - even quite unintentionally a Sean Connery lookalike who was most cordial and informative about the Yacht. Glad to know that she is still being looked after and kept in tip-top condition. Would certainly love to visit again some time”

Anne Wright, Oct 26, 2008, Newtownabbey N Ireland

George Watson, Sep 30, 2008, Orford, Suffolk

“I visited 13th September 2008. A very enjoyable afternoon which was totally different to what I had expecteded. The handset guides worked really well, I was able to view everything at my leisure and will definitely visit again. We are very lucky to be able to enjoy Britannia for such a small cost and it is in my opinion a real shame that the Queen does not still have this very modest accommodation to escape to for rest and privacy.”

Val Daniel, Sep 14, 2008, Bedale North Yorkshire

Alan Barnes, Aug 29, 2008, Littlehampton

“This was definitely one of the best days out I have had. What a beautiful ship, no wonder the Queen loved it so much. The handset guides were very useful, we did not feel rushed and as we came very early in the morning there were no crowds. Would undoubtedly visit again if I was in Scotland. Thanks to all the staff.”

David, Jun 20, 2008, Cambridge

“We visited on the 16th June, a lovely sunny day. What a lovely vessel, such a pity it is no longer used as it was intended to be. The opulence of the Royal suites are a stark contrast to the living quarters of the rest of the ships company. We really enjoyed the visit, found it fascinating.”

I was expecting to have to park up at some point, but the buggy made it round the whole place! Our little boy was fascinated with what he called the Queen's holiday boat, and he loved seeing the photos dotted round.”

Gemma Muncy, Feb 9, 2008, Horsham, West Sussex

““Just back from visiting the yacht what a brilliant time we had. The self guided tour was excellent we never felt rushed along even though there were lots of visitors it was as if you were in your own world imagining life on board. Having seen the yacht on film and in famous photos it was fantastic to actually stand on the decks. Brilliant!!””

Alan Williams, Jan 19, 2008, Hobart. Tasmania. Australia

“One of the most fascinating attractions we have ever visited - with plenty to see! We were made to feel very welcome right from the start. The gentleman handing us our audio handsets was very friendly and courteous - indeed, he provided the nicest handover of an audioguide we've ever known! We actually thought he must have worked on the yacht previously. What an amazing insight into an awe-inspiring lifestyle. The tour is easy to follow and you're able to sit down in parts of the yacht that you wouldn't expect. Hats off to the team who maintain Britannia. A very worthwhile visit which made us feel proud of our heritage.”

Joy Wright, Jan 7, 2008, Liverpool, Merseyside

“Our visit to RY Britannia was the favourite out of all the things we did in Edinburgh. It was so interesting and the audioguide was brilliant (not too long on each bit!) The icing on the cake was the delicious mulled wine and shortbread served on the ship as part of the Xmas celebrations. Wonderful.”

Gill Crewdson, Dec 3, 2007, egham surrey

“This ship is a must for all visitors to Edinburgh. Very interesting and well done. It's a shame that this ship isn't still in use. By visiting this ship you get lot's of information about the life on board, the British Royals and all the technical stuff of this outstanding yacht. It's a really five star plus attraction! By the way, the fudge sold on board is excellent! Thanks for preserving this really magnificant yacht for the next generations.”

Bernd Hufendiek, Nov 5, 2007, Stuttgart, Germany

What a shame it is not still in use as clearly Her Majesty loved this ship. Really liked her decor, very restful indeed. Congratulations to all concerned, this visit was a highlight.”

“My sister and I visited the Royal Yacht on 10th October. It was a beautiful sunny day and we sat on the sun deck watching people having photographs taken by the side of the bell and the compass. Everyone was thoroughly enjoying themselves (young and old). The private rooms were amazingly homely and welcoming. It was easy to imagine Charles and Diana aboard and what fun she must have been to have around. The picture of her rushing to greet William and Harry with arms open wide and a grin to match will always stay in my memory. A big thank you to all involved for making this the highlight of our trip to Edinburgh.”

Jacqueline Monk, Oct 15, 2007, Great Totham, Maldon, Essex

“As I previously stated on your web site, my husband and I were ecstatic when we finally visited this wonderful marine museum Sep 24th. As we were arriving the doors had just closed for the day, but fortunately they let us in through the exit doors. We would never have been able to imagine in one's mind the gracefulness and the beauty this Royal yacht possesses. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have been able to witness this beautiful work of art.”

Louise Singer, Oct 9, 2007, Baie D'urfe Quebec Canada

“What we enjoyed the most about our stay in Edinburgh was the visit of The Royal Yacht Britannia. Really worth seeing again! Thanks a lot for audio guide in Czech! ;-)”

Eva Reinberkova, Sep 20, 2007, Chvojenec, Czech Republic

“I was amazed at the diligence with which the heritage has been maintained. Taking a trip on the Britannia enriched my knowledge about the ship. The absolute serenity in the ship speaks volumes about the lifestyle of the royal family.”

Anurag Sharma, Sep 10, 2007, Northampton

“Our son Jon lives in Edinburgh and works in Leith so we walked from Dean Village along the Water of Leith, had lunch with Jon and then spent the afternoon on the Britannia. The Royal Yacht is certainly well worth a visit and I am planning to return in January with my sister. The engine room and the laundry are testimony to an era when things were made to last. I wish I was on the sun deck now with a G&T. Well worth a visit.”

Helen and Jim Helm, Sep 10, 2007, Howden, East Yorkshire

“Dear Sirs I would just like to say how much my wife and I enjoyed our recent visit to the Britannia. Even though the weather was drizzly, this did not detract from the pleasure we both got from our visit. The hand held commentary devices are a great idea. The commentary is factual and not at all patronising-well done. It was interesting to see the set up of the boat and to see that it wasn't all glitz and glamour as one might expect for the sovereign. The visit was part of an anniversary present for my wife and I was just along for company but it was SO interesting-I was amazed by all of the different things to see. Thank you for an excellent visit.”

Richard Peck, Aug 28, 2007, Ferryhill, Co Durham

“Excellent. I was there yesterday with 2 German friends who did not speak English. I was able to listen to the headset in English while they listened in German. We all really enjoyed our visit especially the Rolls Royce and the fact that they kept the beer in the garage when it was not used for the Rolls Royce. It was nice to see so many family photos.”

jean macgillivray, Aug 24, 2007, Dundee

“I visited Britannia in August, 2007. What an enjoyable experience. The audio guide was so informative, and it enabled visitors to go round at their own pace. It was a great insight into the private living arrangements of the Royal Family, and the daily running of the yacht in general. It is very obvious that Britannia is being maintained to the highest possibe standard, and is a credit to all those people who work there. While the decommissioning was a sad event, I must say that the Queen's loss is our gain. I'd recommend the tour to everyone. I'll definitely be back!!”

Marje Geary, Aug 15, 2007, Glenrothes, Fife

“What a wonderful, charming home this must have been for the Royal family, away from the public glare. Having visited this atmospheric yacht twice already, we love it's peaceful ambience and feel sorry that the Royal family have had to part with such a personal treasure. We highly recommend a visit to the Britannia to everyone touring Edinburgh.”

The Llewellyn family, Aug 5, 2007, Dumfries & Galloway

Louise Singer, Jul 7, 2007, Baie D'urfe,Qc, Canada

“Thank you for a wonderful family day out! We all enjoyed our visit to the Britannia immensely - from Gran who had worked in the office at John Browns Shipyard at the time she was built to grandsons and grandaughters who shared the experience of seeing round the Royal Yacht and all the history it contained - we can understand why the Queen found Britannia the one place she could truly relax. The audio guide was excellent and we all enjoyed the fudge! Thank you again for giving us all a day which we will always remember. The Currie family, Isle of Arran, Scotland.”

The Currie Family, Jun 22, 2007, Isle of Arran

“I visited Britannia last week having previously visited about 3 years ago. I can honestly say that the second visit was even more enjoyable than the first. It's a magnificent yacht and we are so fortunate in being able to visit such an historical vessel.”

Pat Leighfield, Jun 18, 2007, Sutton Coldfield

“Our tour on May 22, 2006 was one of the best we have ever experienced. It is so gratifying to see history being carefully and lovingly preserved. The fudge from the sweet shop wasn't bad, either!”

Mandy and Cherie Tidwell, May 27, 2007, Charlotte, NC abd Griffin, GA

“We visited Britannia on the 7th May 2007. What an absolute cracker of a ship, even more worth visiting than we had expected. A real window on our recent (and not so recent!)past. It just felt that the Royal Family had just stepped out. The best tourist attraction in Edinburgh. Charles and Linda McPherson”

Charles McPherson, May 9, 2007, Stonehaven

“A really brilliant visit - such a surprise to find how much we could see and just how impressive the whole experience was for me and my son Andrew. Thank you for making it possible.”

Susan North, May 7, 2007, Runcorn, Cheshire

“We visited Britannia on 4th April 2007. It was a very strange feeling to know that we have walked the same route as royalty as well as very famous people. I found it a beautiful ship and very sad that she had to be decommisioned, i am sure it was a real wrench for the Queen and her family. Well worth a visit.”

George & Barbara Smith, Apr 9, 2007, Leighton Buzzard ,Bedfordshire.

“Nice to see this historic ship has been preserved. Keep up the good work!”

John Osborn, Mar 6, 2007, Auckland NZ

“Last weekend my wife and I were in Edinburgh and decided to visit Britannia. We are so glad we did. The tour from start to finish was amazing. There was even the odd occasion when we were the only people in the room or on the deck - a feeling that is hard to describe, although the word surreal does spring to mind. Congratulations to everyone involved. We shall come again.”

Colin Bird, Feb 28, 2007, Stoke-on-Trent

“We found our visit so very interesting and would recommend a visit by all tourists. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there.”

Robyn, Feb 5, 2007, Queensland

“I found the access and information very well organised. The audio guide gives an extremely realistic mood to how life was spent by not only the Royal Family but all the crew on board. An experience not to be missed -- Edinburghs' pride and joy.”

Brian Coe, Jan 30, 2007, Diss

“I visited Britannia with my son at the weekend and can't stop talking about it. A fantastic tour and she truly charmed us all. I can understand why the Queen found Britannia the one place she could truly relax. Fantastic audio tour and would recommend it to all my friends and family.”

“I saw Britannia in Charlottetown, P.E.I., Canada during the visit of T.R.H. The Prince and Princess of Wales. The ship is simply fantastic! Would love to see the inside some day.”

Stuart David Turner Ward, Jan 9, 2007, Richibucto, N.B., Canada, E4W 3Y3

“Having seen Britannia many times at Cowes, Portsmouth and other places, it was a treat to actually set foot on the old gal! She is still a great ship.”

Les & Joyce Trent, Dec 31, 2006, Pontypool Torfaen

“I wanted to express how impressed I was at my recent visit to the Yacht. I am blind and used the audio description for VI to aid me round the ship. I was amazed at the extensive detail provided to help me navigate. This is the best audio description experience I have had. My guide dog was also warmly welcomed, which was an added bonus. I would highly recommend both the yacht and its audio facilities to any visually impaired person! Thank you!”

Veronica Whymant, Dec 27, 2006

“On return from a visit to N.Ireland I found myself in Edinburgh and realised that 'Britannia' was here. What an absolute delight to find that I could visit and also that my wife was able to visit in her wheelchair. A truly memorable experience but saddened by the sight of Her Majesty's obvious dismay in saying goodbye to an old and faithful friend, as seen in the photograph at the Decommissioning. I must congratulate the team who look after 'Britannia' as the love and affection you have for her shines in everything there is to see and do when aboard. The audio commentary was so useful. Go forward in strength and continue to serve as Her Majesty still does. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN”

George Moores, Dec 24, 2006, MOUNTAIN ASH

“Hats off to the great work on this magnificent yacht. Access to all parts of the ship was amazing. If you're going to Edinburgh, make sure to include the Britannia on your agenda.”

“"Keeping up to date with the past". Britannia lives on not only with us ex-Yachtsmen, but with everyone who visits her from being the greatest show afloat.”

“A great guest book idea. All your visitors cannot fail to be impressed by the work your team are doing in keeping the 'old lady' in such good trim. Dixie”

A. (Dixie) Deane, M.B.E., R.V.M., Dec 1, 2006, Lovedean, Hampshire

“Since I was a little girl, I was always interested in the Britannia----I read so much about the royal family-----it was a dream come true to step foot on Britannia----I am a Delta Air Lines flight attendant---and only because I have a job that provided me the opportunity to travel would I ever have had one of my dreams come true----It was fabulous!!!”

Judy Charles, Nov 20, 2006, Atlanta Georgia

Graham Smith, Nov 10, 2006, Thornton (Kirkcaldy)

“We visited on May 19 with another couple. The self-guided tour is excellent and provides exact information that answers most questions one would have. The Britannia should be a 'must' stop for visitors to Edinburgh. We particularly enjoyed General Schwartzkoph's remark regarding the engine room. Most enjoyable!”

Walter and Linda Ritter, May 21, 2006, Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, USA

“What an experience. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definately be back. Even the children enjoyed it and that takes some doing!”

D Wardley, May 20, 2006, Blackpool, Lancashire

“We loved the tour and found it even more interesting and enjoyable than we thought we would. What made it really special though (we were in Edinburgh for our wedding anniversary) was one of the staff, a really nice chap called Lyndsay. He was very friendly and took the time to tell us great stories about past crew and passengers and really made us feel like we were special guests. He was such a nice chap that we were still talking about him days later!”

Richard & Karen Gardner, May 12, 2006, Sleaford, Lincolnshire

“We visited on 11th May, 2006. It was a beautiful sunny day and when we were on the shelter deck and in the sun lounge we could just imagine that it was the Carribean or Palma. The experience of being on Britannia will always stay with us. I really wanted my husband to see it as he is ex royal navy and saw it from the distance in the dry dock at Portsmouth in, I think 1996.”

Bryan & Janet Baker, May 11, 2006, Glenrothes

“We visited on Sunday 7th May 2006 and enjoyed our visit very much - this is a great way to spend a couple of hours. Well done to all the staff who keep this great ship in such wonderful condition. Don't leave Edinburgh without doing this.”

Christine Anthony, May 7, 2006, Omagh, Northern Ireland

“We visited on 3rd May with Rob's 87 year old mother and were impressed by the fact that we had easy wheelchair access for her throughout, even the engine room. We saw much more than we expected and found the staff warm, welcoming and helpful. It was great to experience the smell of cooking on board (as well as homemade fudge from the sweet shop) and so to know that Britannia is still useful and functioning, instead of just being a museum piece. Well done to all.”

Lin & Rob Briggs, May 3, 2006, Cornwall

“Loved the tour wish we could sail away on her. Can’t wait to vist it again..”

Chris & Eileen Hayton, May 2, 2006, Oxenhope, West Yorkshire

“An excellent visit! Good value for money, highly courteous and efficient staff and a very good audio commentary - what a pleasant change for this be included in the price. A fascinating insight into what must have been a wonderful place to spend a few days. Highly recommended!”

Martyn Buckley, Apr 27, 2006, Selkirk, Scotland

“I was impressed and pleased at the ongoing conservation work aboard. And who among us can fail to admire this beautiful ship and the role it has played in history. Keep up the good work”

Michael Long, Apr 21, 2006, East Ridge, Tennessee, USA

“Just back from visiting the yacht what a brilliant time we had. The self guided tour was excellent we never felt rushed along even though there were lots of visitors it was as if you were in your own world imagining life on board. Having seen the yacht on film and in famous photos it was fantastic to actually stand on the decks. Brilliant!!”

Stephanie Palmer, Apr 19, 2006, York

“We felt like we were back in the forties and fifties and should have dressed accordingly! Now I know how my hubby gets to be so tidy, with the size of those bunks you would have to be (he was in the Royal Marines). So sorry that he could not be with me on that trip, he would have loved the atmosphere and info.”

Mary Jane Richardson, Apr 14, 2006, South Africa

“My wife and I visited the yacht in early April 2006. It is inspirational to walk in the footsteps of history. This floating palace is simple yet impressive. It is also beautiful without ostentation. We were very moved.”

Patrick and Vicki Branco, Apr 3, 2006, Alaska, USA
