What could be more perfect than enjoying a delicious glass of mulled wine in the Royal Deck Tea Room? It's been a firm favourite amongst Britannia's visitors this Christmas, so we wanted to share the recipe with you, from Britannia's Food and Beverage Services Manager, Bruce MacBride.
The perfect accompaniment to a mince pie…
Ingredients: 5 dried cloves, 2 star anise, 1 stick of cinnamon, 250 grams of caster sugar, 1.5 shots of brandy/whisky, 1 fresh orange (halved), 2 bottles of red wine.
Method: Place the cloves, star anise and cinnamon stick in a large saucepan, with the brandy or whisky, over a medium heat. Let this simmer until the sugar has dissolved. Add the two halves of orange and let it simmer away on the hob (don't let it boil), for about 30 minutes, until it's ready to be served. Enjoy!
