We've experienced a truly special couple of weeks here at The Royal Yacht Britannia, as we celebrated 60 years since her launch on 16 April, 1953. There was a wonderful atmosphere as the Yacht and Visitor Centre were decorated with bunting and balloons, and visitors enjoyed a tot of rum and cake to toast the occasion.
A giant replica Britannia cake was also on display in the State Dining Room. The celebrations started in style as visitors were transported back to the era of her launch, with a 1950s themed weekend on board. Visitors were invited to dress in 1950s fashion and it was fantastic to see so many people dressed up for the occasion, complementing Britannia's style perfectly.
Manhattan Perfect cocktails were served in the Royal Deck Tea Room and vintage Rolls-Royce's lined the quayside, as music from the American Song Book was played on the original grand piano in the State Drawing Room. You can see pictures from the weekend and of our best dressed visitors in the gallery below.
