2013 is set to be an incredible year of celebrations as we mark the 60th Anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen's Coronation and the launch of The Royal Yacht Britannia. This week, we were proud to announce that The Royal Yacht Britannia Gift Shop will be an official stockist of the Royal Collection's beautiful Official Commemorative Coronation China range.
The products, from stunning tea cups and saucers, to beautiful plates and tankards, are made of fine bone china. Manufactured in English potteries using traditional methods unchanged for 250 years, each product is hand-finished using 22 carat gold. The design reflects the pomp and pageantry of the Coronation procession, to which an estimated three million people lined the streets of London to catch a glimpse of the new monarch.
The coat of arms from the pageant coaches form part of the design, and the border decoration is taken from the silk damask banners of the state trumpets which heralded the moment of crowning at Westminster Abbey, where a total of 8,251 guests attended the ceremony. In a radio broadcast, The Queen said: "Throughout all my life and with all my heart I shall strive to be worthy of your trust". She later described the day as being "the proudest of my life". The video below, captures some moments from The Queen's Coronation:
