We love celebrating special occasions aboard Britannia and with Valentine's just a couple of weeks away, we've been making preparations to help our visitors have an extra special day this year. In the Royal Deck Tea Room, we have Champagne and strawberries on the menu, and the Gift Shop has some beautiful gift ideas too. As we're getting in the Valentine's spirit, we thought it would be the perfect time to say congratulations to two romantic couples who visited Britannia in January.
We first welcomed aboard Anja and George, who had travelled to Edinburgh from Switzerland to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. Having got engaged on the QE2 a decade ago, Anja felt the Royal Yacht was the perfect place for this special anniversary, and surprised George with the visit. We thought they would love to see this photograph, showing the two ships passing each other while they were still in service: There must have been something in the water that week, as just a few days after Anja and George's visit, we were delighted to hear that another visitor, Lee Guest, proposed to his girlfriend, Mags, on board. We wish both couples wonderful futures together.
Romantic gestures aboard Britannia are not a new tradition - far from it, in fact. Historically, Britannia was used for four Royal honeymoons during her time in service, while in 2011, we were thrilled to welcome 140 Royal guests as part of the pre-wedding celebrationsfor Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall.
