Scotland's best attraction, The Royal Yacht Britannia, in Edinburgh, has won a prestigious TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award. The awards honour the world's top attractions, based on millions of reviews and opinions from travellers around the globe.
Five-star attraction Britannia, Her Majesty The Queen's former floating palace, has been placed among the top three attractions in Scotland, and the top six in the UK, alongside Durham Cathedral, York Minster and the Tower of London.
Bob Downie, Chief Executive of The Royal Yacht Britannia commented: "We are incredibly proud to receive this award, since it reflects our commitment to providing an exceptional customer experience for all our visitors. We take our TripAdvisor reviews extremely seriously, responding to every visitor who takes the time to write a review."
The Royal Yacht this week also reached over 2,000 'Excellent' reviews (currently averaging 72% Excellent) and was awarded TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence for the second year running.
Scotland has great cause for celebration with winners in three of the four categories, top ten landmarks, top ten museums and top ten parks in the UK.

The Royal Yacht Britannia is owned by a charitable trust (SC028070) and all proceeds are reinvested in protecting her for future generations. 2013 has been an incredible year for the five-star attraction, which has celebrated the 60th Anniversary of Britannia's launch (in 1953), and has officially been named Scotland's Best Visitor Attraction (VisitScotland) for seven years' running, with a quality assurance score of 96%. Royal Yacht Britannia was also presented this week with the top national gold award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS).
