Royal Yacht in running for Most Stylish Venue in Scotland

The Royal Yacht Britannia is delighted to be nominated for Most Stylish Entertainment Venue at the Scottish Style Awards in association with Moët & Chandon, at a ceremony due to take place in Glasgow on Saturday 9 November. Britannia prides itself on being one of the most unique venues in Scotland.

In the evenings, the Royal Yacht is available for corporate and private events, giving guests a truly unforgettable experience. For over 40 years, this iconic five-star venue played hosts to kings and queens, prime ministers and presidents. As The Queen's former floating royal residence, guests are treated to the same exacting standards as when Britannia was in Royal service.

Days of preparation go into every event. The attention to detail is unfaltering; from stunning floral displays to the finest crystal, gleaming silver cutlery to personalised menus, embossed with Britannia's unmistakeable gold crest.

Head of Hospitality and Events at The Royal Yacht Britannia, Andrew Thomson, commented, "To be nominated for the Scottish Style Award's Most Stylish Entertainment Venue is an honour, and very fitting due to the Royal Family's historical relationship with Moët. We pride ourselves in providing the highest standards of service, paired with exquisite cuisine and fine wines. Our guests can expect a truly unique and memorable experience."

Launched in Clydebank 60 years ago, this magnificent ship was home to her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family for over forty years. She has played host to some of the most influential people in the world, including Sir Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan and Nelson Mandela. Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh took a leading role in the design of Britannia, personally approving plans and selecting furniture, fabrics and paintings. They worked closely with legendary interior designer Sir Hugh Casson who helped create the under-stated, classic interiors of the state apartments.

Each room was filled with their photographs, treasured heirlooms, and much-loved possessions and gifts from across the globe. For over forty years, Britannia served the Royal Family and is now permanently berthed in Edinburgh as one of the UK's most prestigious evening events venues.

2013 has been an incredible year for the five-star attraction, which has celebrated the 60th Anniversary of Britannia's launch (in 1953), and has officially been rated Scotland's Best Visitor Attraction (VisitScotland) for seven years' running, with a quality assurance score of 96%.

The Royal Yacht Britannia is owned by a charitable trust (SC028070) and all proceeds are reinvested in protecting her for future generations.
