From the 11-17 August, National Afternoon Tea Week is celebrated across the country. A great British tradition, it's a wonderful treat and lovely way to relax with friends and family.
Aboard Britannia, we love our tea. Historically, HM The Queen enjoyed it first thing, with milk and no sugar. Each day at 5pm she would take Afternoon Tea in Britannia's Sun Lounge. Tea would be served in the finest bone china cups, accompanied by wafer-thin cucumber and smoked salmon sandwiches.
Today, our Royal Deck Tea Room has over 10 different varieties of tea to choose from with freshly baked scones and cakes to match. And just this week, our Gift Shop received delivery of their new 'Afternoon Tea' and 'Earl Grey' tea drums, based around the designs of the furnishings in the Sun Lounge itself. Which got us thinking…why not create your own Afternoon Tea at home?
From Afternoon Tea books, to fine bona china and even our own brand pink fizz, our shop have everything you could need to make it a Royal occasion. The new range of jams and chutneys are absolutely delicious too - made exclusively for Britannia in Angus, Scotland, the supplier uses local ingredients and makes the jam in small batches to create a quality product. The perfect accompaniment to a scone (we even have Britannia's secret scone recipe for you here)! See the rest of our favourite Afternoon Tea products in the photo gallery below. We also found a great infographic with many Afternoon Tea facts - click here to see it.
