The making of our Christmas video: promoting the essence of Britannia

Have you got that Christmassy feeling yet? Whether you have or not, we hope our new Christmas video will help you feel a little more festive! ''Twas the night before Christmas' was made in-house and captures some of the elements that make Britannia such a special place. From our lovely staff who make visitors feel like Royalty, to the impeccable hospitality from the Food and Beverage team, the smallest details went into the video’s creation.

Britannia at Christmas is magical. Sparkling trees and stunning decorations are found throughout the ship. Hot chocolate warms everyone up in the Tea Room, while our Gift Shop team help you find those unique presents.

A Britannia production

Everyone you see in the video is a member of staff aboard Britannia. At the start you’ll spot Susan and Linda from the Housekeeping team, who ensure the ship is always left sparkling. Poppy from Retail is seen carefully selecting items for Santa’s list. Meanwhile Bruce, our Food and Beverage Services Manager plays his part well, preparing the tray for Santa’s arrival. And Santa himself? The fantastic Ian from Maintenance stepped into those big boots and made a wonderful Santa; Ricky from Housekeeping also walked in his shoes for the red carpet moment. Security’s Ronnie and Paul from Maintenance were also brilliant in their acting roles! Plus, Raymond from Housekeeping put together a fantastic poem 'Twas the night before Christmas specially for the video.

Santa's Corgis

This leaves just two stars of the video who aren’t on Britannia’s payroll; Bonny and Becky, two gorgeous Corgis who made a special visit to the Royal Yacht for the filming. Favoured by British Royalty for over 70 years, HM The Queen has owned more than 30 Corgis during her reign. It only seemed fitting that these lovely dogs had their own starring role too. They even have their own hashtag #SantasCorgis.

Our Photographer in Residence also popped in during the filming to capture some of the work that went on behind-the-scenes. Click on the photos below and we’ll walk you through the filming each step of the way!

If you’re visiting Edinburgh this Christmas, we would love to welcome you aboard. For special events this year, see our What’s On page, or shop online for unique gift ideas (and to buy your own toy Corgi!).
