The Britannia experience
Discover what life was like on board The Queen's floating royal
residence. You can follow in the footsteps of world leaders such as
Sir Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela and Rajiv Gandhi. Now The
Royal Yacht Britannia is a
five-star visitor attraction in Edinburgh. This famous ship has
consistently been judged Scotland's best visitor attraction by our
national tourism agency, VisitScotland. See What to do to help
you plan your visit.
Arrival
You'll receive a truly warm welcome at Britannia's Visitor
Centre in Ocean Terminal before you step on board. Here you can
learn about the history of Royal Yachts, and view displays and
historical photographs of Britannia's fascinating
past.
What you will see
The audio handset tour covers Britannia's five main
decks. You start at the Bridge, explore the State Apartments,
Crew's Quarters and finish at the Engine Room. From here you can
also visit the Royal Sailing Exhibition and learn about the Royal
Racing Yacht Bloodhound.
Please note that Bloodhound is not on display in
July and August; she is based in Oban, where she can be hired for
day sailing, skippered and crewed by former Royal Yachtsmen. More information on
hiring Bloodhound.
The majority of items on view are the originals, kindly on loan
from the Royal
Collection and other contributors. The route is fully
accessible with lifts and ramps throughout. More information on
accessibility.
