Scotland's tourist board, VisitScotland, offers great resources to help visitors plan their trip to Edinburgh. Prior to travelling, look at VisitScotland's website for accommodation providers, all of which have a 1 to 5-star quality assurance rating. If you need advice when you arrive, the staff at VisitScotland's information centre, icentre, are always happy to help. With a central location, next to Waverly Train Station, the icentre offers leaflets as well as guidance from knowledgeable staff.

For those who measure their carbon footprint, the Green Tourism website allows you to search by region for places to visit and to stay in Scotland. You can filter your search by location and even further by choosing a Green Tourism grading, from awaiting certification to the highest Gold level.
