Small Boat Engineer
Small Boat Engineer
Full or Part Time
£14.30 per hour
The Royal Yacht Britannia is an award-winning five-star visitor attraction and exclusive events venue in Edinburgh. The 180-strong team on board is committed to the same standards of excellence that were expected when Britannia was in service. This dedication to excellence has led to Britannia being rated as Scotland’s Best Visitor Attraction for 12 years running and one of TripAdvisor’s Top 5 UK Landmark Attractions.
Britannia’s Maintenance department, which consists of skilled engineers and qualified trade staff, oversees the preservation of this iconic vessel, and provides an essential and invaluable support role to all other departments.
An experienced small boat diesel engineer is required to maintain the engines on our small flotilla of motor boats, and classic 63ft sailing yacht. Engines include Foden FD6 Mk VI; Perkins T6.354(M); Volvo Penta (with stern drive); Scania DI12 59M and a JCB 444N2.
Specific knowledge of these engines is not vital, although a good general understanding of small and medium sized engines is required. Knowledge of 24V/12V and inverter electrical systems would also be advantageous but not essential, as would an interest in sailing. The job lends itself to being either full or part time, with hours and days worked to suit the right candidate. The role would also involve general maintenance work on all our small boats.
Company benefits include:
- Enhanced long service holiday entitlement
- Life Assurance
- Performance and loyalty payment scheme
- Complimentary tickets
- Staff discount in the Gift Shop and Royal Deck Tea Room
- Free car parking for staff
