History of the Royal Deck

Traditionally, the Royal Deck would have been used by the Royal Family for cocktail parties and receptions, and would have been covered with an awning to protect guests from the sun.

Today, the historic appearance of the Royal Deck has been replicated with an awning style roof, the original teak deck, and glass walls to protect guests from the wind and rain.

The Royal Yacht Britannia Trust brought the Royal Deck back into use to help secure Britannia’s future so that others can enjoy visiting her in the years to come. The Trust is a wholly self-funding, not-for-profit, charitable organisation that does not receive any public sector revenue support.

Exclusive Evening Events

The Royal Deck is also available in the evenings to enhance the range and size of exclusive evening events that can be hosted on board.

Visitors' book

“I visited Britannia with my husband and daughter in May 2010. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, and were surprised we could take photos! It was a great opportunity to have a glimpse of life on board, and to take a step back in time, imagining all the Royal family and friends who must have walked the decks. Well worth a visit! Thanks to all the team for a wonderful experience.”
