Over the past 25 years, we have welcomed aboard many TV and film crews to create documentaries, weather and news segments and to act as a stunning nautical backdrop for photoshoots. As the only British Royal Yacht in existence, Britannia is truly a unique location. Just two miles from Edinburgh’s city centre, this is a ship of two halves: a former Royal residence at sea and a Royal Navy ship. See a snapshot below.

It was a joy to invite Matt Baker and his parents, Mike and Janice to Britannia as they joined the team, learning about life aboard both during Royal service, as well as the ship's life as a top visitor attraction.

Blue Peter

The longest running children's programme in the world, we have had the pleasure of welcoming two presenters aboard, Gethin Jones and Lindsey Russell.

Downton Abbey

The latest film following the hit TV series, viewers were transported back to the 1920s as Britannia acted as the transport for the family to sail across to the Dowager Countess of Grantham’s inherited villa in the South of France.

The Crown

Whilst The Crown wasn't filmed on Britannia, Art Director James Wakefield and his team of researches spent time aboard to ensure that the many scenes set on the ship were accurate. A replica Britannia was created.

Antiques Roadshow

We hosted the Antiques Roadshow team aboard Britannia as they marked the 65th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation with a special royal edition of the programme, welcoming Fiona Bruce to explore the ship’s remarkable heritage.

Secret Scotland

Susan Calman stepped aboard Britannia to film an episode of her hit series Secret Scotland, with former Royal Yachtsman William French guiding her through the ship’s rich history and sharing stories from his time in Royal service.

BBC Breakfast

It was a pleasure to welcome BBC Breakfast’s weather presenter, Carol Kirkwood, aboard Britannia, where she joined us on deck to broadcast live to millions and experience the ship’s unique atmosphere firsthand.
