Oktoberfest
Haven’t booked to go abroad? Not to worry. Head to Munich via West Princes Street Gardens for a night without the kids to experience Edinburgh’s take on Oktoberfest. This event, which takes place from October 30 to November 3, is about more than just beer. Expect to see traditional lederhosen while listening to Bavarian music, with the smell of pretzels, bratwurst and schnitzel making a taste irresistible.

This brilliant light show boasts numerous accolades, including ‘Best Cultural Event’ at the VisitScotland Regional Awards in 2018. The 1.5hr drive from Edinburgh to Faskally Forest, near Pitlochry, is well worth it for the unique yet peaceful mystique of an enchanting evening spent here.
