Every August, Edinburgh Castle’s historic esplanade becomes the stage for one of the world’s most iconic events — the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. It is an annual showcase featuring military tattoos performed by the British Armed Forces, alongside Commonwealth and international military bands, as well as performances by music and dance groups. In 2025, they are celebrating 75 years of this extraordinary show.

This Year’s Theme
Celebrating the 75th anniversary, this year’s show is titled ‘The Heroes Who Made Us’. The theme pays tribute to the Tattoo’s past while celebrating everyday heroes — people who inspire others through acts of service, bravery, and community.

Why You Should Go
With a different theme each year, the Military Tattoo is always a show not to be missed. Not only will you see the iconic Edinburgh Castle bathed in stunning visuals, but you will also witness stories told through spectacular musical and dance performances from military bands and performers from all corners of the globe.
