Located on the north coast of the Isle of Wight, Cowes is a picturesque seaside town known for being a historic centre of sailing and yachting.

The busiest and most lively month to visit Cowes is in August, this is when the town hosts the world-renowned sailing regatta, Cowes Week, as well as exhibitions and music events.

Cowes Week

Cowes Week is a world famous annual sailing regatta held each August in Cowes. This year it will run between 1 and 7 August. Founded in 1826, this year’s event celebrates its 200th anniversary with over 40 races a day on the Solent, alongside a special Parade of Sail, the inaugural Bicentenary Gold Cup, live music and a spectacular fireworks finale.

Sailing Through Royal History Exhibition

The Royal Yacht Britannia regularly attended the annual Cowes Week sailing regatta. This year, Britannia returns through an exhibition, Sailing Through Royal History, celebrating her connection with Cowes, its community, and the strong Royal links to legendary yacht designer Uffa Fox, a close friend and crewmate of Prince Philip. The exhibition will be running 31 July - 29 August 2026 at the Commodores House.
