Weekly Snaps
12 September 2025
Photography has always played an important role on Britannia. While she was in service, there was always a 'Yottie' appointed, nicknamed 'Snaps', to take photographs of life aboard the Royal Yacht.
In keeping with this tradition, we now have our own Photographer in Residence, Ruth McQuiggan, who has been capturing our very own Weekly 'Snaps' - a collection of snapshots of life around the ship today.

Visitors can delve into the fascinating history of Queen Elizabeth II’s former Royal Yacht as they explore all five decks, guided by a complimentary audio tour

Housekeeper, Renata, dusting the Welmar baby grand piano in the Drawing Room. Princess Diana, Princess Margaret and Princess Alexandra were all known to enjoy playing the baby grand on board Britannia.

Savoury cheese scones, fresh from the oven in the Royal Deck Tearoom. The perfect companion to a warming bowl of soup.

Senior Chef de Partie, Amelia, assembling Victoria sponge cakes, a favourite choice from the Tearoom menu.

The Laundry was among the busiest areas on board. With 240 Officers and Yachtsmen potentially changing uniforms up to six times a day, the washing machines, dryers, and steam presses ran continuously to manage the enormous workload.

The 3.01 Speyside special edition Whisky, available in our Shop, pays tribute to the exact moment Queen Elizabeth II disembarked Britannia for the final time.

Fingal’s Ballroom provides a breathtaking backdrop for exclusive events, boasting a dramatic double-height ceiling, two elegant sweeping staircases, and a private bar.
