Weekly Snaps
24 April 2026
Photography has always played an important role on Britannia. While she was in service, there was always a 'Yottie' appointed, nicknamed 'Snaps', to take photographs of life aboard the Royal Yacht.
In keeping with this tradition, we now have our own Photographer in Residence, Ruth McQuiggan, who has been capturing our very own Weekly 'Snaps' - a collection of snapshots of life around the ship today

Visitors are spoilt for choice with photo-worthy locations. The Royal Brow remains a popular place to capture memories while touring Britannia.
Facilities Officers, Mark and Paul, installing a plaque awarded to The Royal Yacht Britannia for achieving five stars under ASVA's Quality Scheme.
Lovely waterfront views paired with a the Royal Deck Tearoom's menu of soups, sandwiches, cakes and scones make for a relaxing experience on board.
Head Chef, Richard, preparing mackerel quenelles as part of a starter to be served at an evening event.
Along with mackerel, the starter includes beetroot cured halibut, pickled beetroot and a dill emulsion.
From flavoured milk, specialty teas and coffees to cocktails, the Tearoom's drinks menu has something to suit all tastes.
The Engine Room changed very little throughout Britannia’s service, with almost every piece of machinery, gadget, stopcock, switch and dial operating flawlessly until her decommissioning in 1997.
Originally the Junior Ratings’ Mess, the Unwinding Room evolved into a favourite place to relax, and is fondly remembered by the Yotties who served aboard.
